Christy Clark says it's better to be a MILF than a cougar

    1 of 1 2 of 1

With the onslaught of end of the year lists and an excess of holiday drinking, I'm unsurprised that a December 19 radio interview with Christy Clark in which she answers the age-old question, "Is it better to be a MILF or a cougar?", didn't even make a blip on my radar.

But that's a real thing that did happen.

In an interview with  98.9 JetFM in Courtenay, B.C., morning host Drex asked the premier "what it’s like being a MILF?", ostensibly on behalf of a caller.

However, instead of getting offended at the incredibly sexist question, Ms. Clark just laughed. And then answered the question.

"You know, I take that as a compliment … you know, it’s one of those things. Better a MILF than a cougar … so tell [the caller] I said thank you."

Really, Premier Clark? I know you're not a great advocate for families or children or, well, anything else, but can't you at least advocate for yourself? The only acceptable answer to a question like that is, "That's inappropriate" or "You got the premier of the province on your radio show and all you can do is reduce her to a sexual object?"

You can jump down my throat about how Clark's "just got a great sense of humour!", but before you do, stop and consider the fact that male politicians don't have to answer this kind of bullshit. Thinking you can ask the premier of our province whether she's a MILF or getting up in arms about her cleavage is nothing more than pathetic.

And Drex? Stop it. You're giving my hometown a worse name than it already has.

The radio station has since pulled the audio from its website, "out of respect for the premier and the families in [Drex's] audience."

President's have been asked boxer's or briefs for awhile. Attractive male politicians have to deal with questions like and they do so without making a big deal out of it.

I think you're trying to make an issue out of something that isn't an issue. While you might not be considered sexually appealing, other people are and they deal with the questions in stride.

I was going to ask how someone could not possibly know, especially a reporter about how attractive male politicians have to deal with these situations, I noticed at the top it said this is a blog. That explains the "make a massive deal out of nothing so you can get clicks".

You should go work for Jezebel, this kind of article is something I'd expect from them.

Yes, the headline should have been called 'Drex's Dreck.' I am not a supporter of Christie Clark, but I would gather she probably does not actually realize the full word of the acronym MILF and thinks it probably means sexy momma or something more benign.

Hey, who cares? I really wouldn't consider this cow to be either!! Now pack up the side show and call an election.

Hey Georgia Straight, are you aware that your mobile app doesn't have any author attribution on it? I had to go to a couple of different places to find the author of this little article. Great article, by the way!

No woman of any intelligence would have even entertained this comment for a split second. Inappropriate comment by the DJ and an even more appropriate response by Clark. Why would any woman say she was flattered by such a derogatory term, and then mention another just as derogatory and misogynistic term as well? I guess this pretty well sums up Clark, considering she had in 2010 said she liked to watch Mananwsers on Spike TV and then referenced the segment about crushing beers can with large breasts.
Honestly, is it any wonder we women have a problem with this type of "leadership".
A simple Let's just move this interview along - ha ha would have nipped this in the bud. But she chose to comment, and to comment using a horrible condensing term towards women. Great role model!

Being asked, "boxers or briefs?", is a little different than "as an older broad do you like to think of yourself as fuckable?". She certainly had an appropriate response for Richard Branson's ewww moment; or was it a handler that crafted that reply?

She might feel that a common touch is needed to show she's also, despite sending her kids to private school, one of the great unwashed. What she is not getting though, is that as Premier she is also supposed to be a role model and accord some dignity to the office she holds. But then again, maybe if she had actually been elected Premier we might have seen a more decorous Ms Clark.

Yet another example why she is completely over her head...the correct reaction would have been to terminate the interview. I think we all know now why Christy had so little support for the leadership among the Liberal caucus. MILF's just don't make good premiers.

I am not a fan of Christy Clark, however, she handled the tasteless MILF/ Cougar question with excellent poise. If there is any question of censurable conduct here; I think attention deserves to be directed to the radio station staff.
