Cover for new J.K. Rowling book revealed

Earlier today, Little, Brown and Company revealed the cover for The Casual Vacancy, the new novel by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

The Casual Vacancy tells the story of a seemingly calm English town that is revealed to be at odds with itself when a council member dies mysteriously. According to the the publishers, “Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.”

This book (the British wordsmith’s first to be written specifically for adults) will be released in hardcover, large-print hardcover, unabridged audio download, CD, and ebook formats on September 27.
