Dan Savage and Terry Miller honoured for It Gets Better Project
Georgia Straight columnist Dan Savage and his husband, Terry Miller, have received the Governors Award at the Creative Arts Emmys for a pioneering antibullying campaign.
The "It Gets Better Project" has spurred celebrities ranging from President Barack Obama to singer Janet Jackson to comedians Kathy Griffin and Sarah Silverman to create videos with encouraging messages for LBGT youths.
“Terry Miller is my husband in Canada and boyfriend in America," Savage, who lives in Seattle, said in accepting the award, according to an article in the The Hollywood Reporter.
The Creative Arts Emmys were awarded in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on Reelz Channel.
