Dave Grohl decides he's not taking Courtney Love's crazy Frances Bean shit

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Once upon a time (the early '90s), Courtney Love was a deliciously vicious fuck-up alchemizing pent-up pain and feminist rage into some of the most compelling music of her generation. Flash forward to 2012 and Love is still fucked up, but to a cliff-dangling degree that has her inadvertently killing innocent animals and accusing Dave Grohl of seducing her 19-year-old daughter.

As reported by Gawker, Love went on a stream-of-consciousness Twitter tirade on Tuesday night via her private account @cbabymichelle, rambling half-coherently about a rumour she heard from "reliable sources" alleging that Grohl "hit on Frances" in the backseat of a car. In her priceless words, "it is inn [sic] fact a fact." And in Ronald Reagan’s words, “Facts are stupid things”—when it comes to Love’s assertions anyway.

Of her daughter she tweeted, "I'm not mad at her," but of Grohl she declared she was about to "shoot [him] dead," claiming that he has "that romney rape thing about him" and that he's "sexually obsessed" with Kurt Cobain. (You can view all the tweets in order via Gawker here). Funnily enough, Love herself foreshadows this mess with her private account's profile, which says, "well, i shouldnt really be here so pretend im not, as long as i dont use it when i get pissed off, well all be fine." Looks like we're not all going to be fine after all.

Grohl has since responded to the supremely creepy and paranoid accusations, calling them "upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue," and Frances Bean has also voiced her feelings on the fiasco: "While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. Twitter should ban my mother."

Though sometimes the public douses Love with vitriol that is, at best, silly and trite (e.g. “She’s ugly” and “She murdered Kurt”—okay then) and, at worst, unfair and sexist (e.g. near-constant slut-shaming and questioning whether she wrote her own songs), Love’s mistreatment and humiliation of her daughter is, without a doubt, deranged and inexcusable. So since yesterday was the anniversary of the release of Hole’s seminal 1994 album Live Through This, let’s take a moment to remember Love for the inspiring rock goddess she once was and hope she, if it’s at all possible, eventually gets her shit together for Frances Bean’s sake:

She was never a "rock goddess". LOLOL. She was a junkie whore who fucked her way to the limelight. I am so sick of her. She was disgusting then and will always be.

She was very good in The People Vs Larry Flynt, though it was great typecasting. After seeing her lips in the photo above, I hope Woody Harrelson already had herpes.

Wow, you think Courtney Love created "some of the most compelling music of her generation"??? Sorry to inform you, but outside this little NW corner of the world, she didn't really affect anyone. Typical Van outlook though - what we like is the best - HaHa. This article is sadder than Courtney herself.

Actually, in defense of (Love/ Vivian), Hole's Pretty on the Inside (and their awesome "Retard Girl" single - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mHAj50Vyhk ) stand up better today than *almost* anything that came out of Seattle in the 1990's, including, IMHO, the entire overburdened Nirvana catalogue. The songs are strong as hell - Love beats Kim Gordon at her own game - and the presentation is totally sincere and convincing, plus Love has an amazing snarling/ snotty delivery that puts even Johnny Rotten in his place at times. Even by Live Through This a sort of marketplace oriented confusion/ decay was setting in - half the songs are filler and there's a glitzy production that's all wrong - but the moments that work ("Violet," "Doll Parts," "Rock Star") work really, really well...

By the way, those sure look like burns from a crack pipe, not herpes. It's a very sad picture.

I am sorry to hear that Vancouver, as always, likes to indulge in the shallow end of things. CL was obviously a mentally burdened woman who may or may not have had inspiring musical talent. She has never stood up, or even tried to stand up, against the kind of music that Kim Gordon and Sonic Youth make. That comment was specious.

Perhaps I should clarify: speaking in terms of ferociousness of delivery - an unreservedly powerful voice for a female frontwoman - I think Love does best Kim Gordon, though obviously in terms of musical inventiveness Sonic Youth are the greater band than Hole...

Thanks for the support Mr. MacInnis. I'll also always appreciate Love for singing and speaking about women's issues like domestic abuse and rape. Not a lot of that in rock 'n' roll, unfortunately. E.g.:

      She's a beast.

Dear Lord of all that is right in the world... Are you kidding me!?! Courtney beats Kim Gordon?! Take another hit off of Courtney's crack-pipe! That is the most delusional statement I've read in months! I knew my fellow Vancouverites were vastly ignorant and marginally stupid, and your comment only further solidifies that Fact.
What has Kim done in the past few years? I don't know, headlined VFest, a big outdoor festival?
What has Courtney done besides be a washed-up POS attention-whore? Zilch. Keep on hitting that pipe and you guys won't have computers to post your stupidity with. Do it.
