Elemental offers case studies on why water is the issue of the 21st century
Back in 2000, Fortune magazine writer Shawn Tully wrote a sentence that has been repeated many times since:
Water promises to be to the 21st century what oil was to the 20th century: the precious commodity that determines the wealth of nations.
Just last summer, Al Jazeera posted an article about how the risk of wars over water is rising as a result of demographic pressures, climate change, and pollution.
Now, there's a chance to learn more about how water has become such a vital issue on three continents.
The DOXA Documentary Film Festival and Capilano University will present the Vancouver premiere of Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee and Gayatari Roshan's film Elemental, which examines the struggle for water in Alberta, India, and Australia.
It will be presented at 7 p.m. on January 29 at the Bosa Centre at Capilano University. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door through the DOXA Festival site.
It's part of DOXA's Motion Pictures Film Series
