Dunbar Haunted House gets grimy for 2012
The Dunbar Haunted House is getting ready to terrify Vancouverites once again.
The popular family-operated attraction will open for the 2012 Halloween season on October 12 and run until October 31. At 8934 Shaughnessy Street, the house is near Marine Drive Station on the Canada Line.
For 2012, the spooky theme is "The Daily Grime". "This year's Haunt is based around 'typical' stories featured in a generic newspaper. Featured stories include Health Care, Education, Business, Law & Order, Science & Technology, and Entertainment," the house's website says.
The house's opening hours will be 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday to Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday to Sunday.
In the evenings after 7 p.m., general admission will be $10 while admission for children under 12 will be $5. Before 7 p.m. on weekend days, unlimited access will cost $5. The house will accept cash only.
As a nonprofit operation, all proceeds from the house go to charities. Last year, the house raised a reported $67,000 for the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, the Christmas Bureau, and the Vancouver Police Union Charity Foundation.
The house is wheelchair accessible. The rules for visitors? "No running. No touching."
