Elephants roar with pleasure after drinking cases of vodka

The Moscow News has a story that a man saved the life of two Indian elephants by giving them booze and making them jog.

The situation arose after hay in a truck caught fire as the pachyderms were travelling along a Siberian highway. The elephants, which were part of a Polish circus, were immediately let out—unfortunately, it was minus-40 degree weather on the side of the road.

The clever handler knew they were in danger, so he reportedly served them two cases of vodka, mixed with water, and got them running.

“They roared like it was the jungle…Must have been happy,” a district official told the RIA Novosti news agency.

Eventually, they were moved to a warm area.
