The Georgia Straight presents Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman in Vancouver

Please note the NEW DATE for this show: November 6, 2011.

Newlywed couple Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman are embarking on a short tour this fall with a Vancouver date scheduled for Sunday, November 6, at the Vogue Theatre. The DIY musician and her award-winning author husband are packing up a piano, a ukulele, two microphones, and a few comfortable armchairs to set the stage for a relaxed evening of stories, spoken word, music, and chats with the audience.

"This show will be a very different beast from the loud, crazed rock shows that I'm accustomed to," says Palmer, "and also very different from the relatively well-behaved readings to which Neil is accustomed. Neil and I are both very close with our fanbases, and, even though there's quite a bit of crossover, this tour is like one big, long reception in which our two fan-families get to meet each other.

"We wanted to keep the venues cozy and seated," adds Palmer, " and make the night feel like an after-hours salon more than a formal show. As Neil and I get closer to our fanbases online through blogging and tweeting, it's nice to spend some actual quality offline facetime with everybody. We're both really looking forward to it; I think this tour is going to provide some serious soul-food all around."

Tickets for the show are priced at $27.50 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (Sept 16) at 10 a.m., but Straight readers can take advantage of our exclusive presale from Thursday (Sept 15) 10 a.m.–10 p.m. by going to VogueTheatre.com and submitting our exclusive presale password palmer.

This event is on NOVEMBER 10.

Unless Neil Gaiman's own site is mistaken about his events.

Totally puzzled... On Neil's website (http://www.neilgaiman.com/where/) and Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/amandapalmer/an-evening-with-neil-ga...), it says he will be in Vancouver on November 10th. The Vogue theater site says says Oct 10...

Hi Amanda,

Do not panic! The info we originally received had the incorrect date noted. The Gaiman-Palmer tour begins around Halloween, which means NOVEMBER 10 is indeed the correct date.

Thanks.

I went to the site to get tickets and went through the whole process only to find out at the end that I have to create an account to get tickets. Fuck that. I don't use online services often enough to remember my details. Please let your users know this is a neccessary step so they don't waste their time like I did. I call bullshit on this.

Wow, well it's sold out with presales anyway. Drats. I think Kickstarters should have had first dibs.

Presales are sold out but there are still tickets available. Get the quick before they are sold out. I just got mine. The correct Vancouver date is November 6th, not the 10th.
