The Georgia Straight presents Lady Gaga in Vancouver on her Born This Way Ball Tour

Live Nation has just announced that the Georgia Straight will present Lady Gaga at Rogers Arena on Friday, January 11, 2013.

The Born This Way Ball is Lady Gaga’s first tour since the release of her album Born This Way, which has sold nearly six-million copies worldwide since its release in May of 2011. The album is the follow-up to back-to-back Grammy-winning albums The Fame (2008) and The Fame Monster (2009). Combined, those two albums have sold 15-million albums worldwide, while Lady Gaga’s hit singles have combined sales of over 90-million worldwide.

Gaga was named Forbes Magazine's Most Powerful Woman in the World 2011 and was included in Time's annual "The 2010 Time 100" list of the most influential people in the world. With over 2.2 billion combined views of all her videos online, Lady Gaga is one of the biggest living people on Facebook with over 53 million ‘likes’ and is #1 on Twitter with nearly 30 million followers.

Tickets for the show are priced at $49.50, $90, and $175 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (Sept. 21) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets are also available for purchase at all Ticketmaster Outlets and Rogers Wireless Box Office.

Honestly, she is easily one of the most overrated musicians ever. Completely unoriginal and all hype. Incredibly boring.

The photo looks kind kind of like a Judas Priest album cover, except for the rider mower under the motorcycle.

@ Sal Bass

Musicians who think they can be the next Arcade Fire always dismiss those who gain a massive popular following as boring. "She Loves You, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" from the Beatles. They sneer and snore to that and to then snicker at Buddy Holly's "True Love Ways" or Elton John's "Your Song".

Genius, when it really is genius always looks deceptively easy so dismissing "Bad Romance" or "Born This Way" is so much easier than questioning how much talent oneself has.

If you can better, as was suggested to a former music editor of this very paper, Bob Geldof, then go do better! He did pretty well but I'm pretty sure I'll only ever hear of you on "Seinfeld" reruns as the guy in the sauna Kramer insists might be Salman Rushdie.
