The Georgia Straight presents Mayer Hawthorne at the Commodore

Live Nationhas announced that American neo-soul artist Mayer Hawthorne will return to Vancouver to perform—with guest Harlan— at the Commodore Ballroom on Tuesday, October 23, in support of his sophomore album, How Do You Do.

How Do You Do, Hawthorne’s first major-label effort, builds on the classic Motown sound of his self-produced independent debut, A Strange Arrangement, adding a little 1960s California-pop flavour to the mix.

“A lot of my other influences are coming out on this record,” says Hawthorne. “There are a lot of other genres that are blending in now. It’s just turning into me.”

Tickets for the show are priced at $25 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (August 24) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000, at Red Cat, Highlife and Zulu Records, at all Ticketmaster Outlets and through Rogers Wireless Box Office.
