The Georgia Straight presents Zappa Plays Zappa at the Commodore

Live Nation has announced that Zappa Plays Zappa, Dweezil Zappa’s ongoing homage to and performance of his father Frank’s music, will play the Commodore Ballroom on Saturday, December 22.

Born in 1969 to Frank and Gail Zappa, Dweezil inevitably grew up surrounded by music. After years of pursuing his own musical style he started preparing to take on an extremely difficult challenge—bringing his father’s legendary sound back to the concert stage.

In the spring of 2006 Zappa Plays Zappa hit the road for its first tour. Playing a long, ambitious set of Frank Zappa favorites and obscure gems to enraptured audiences, Dweezil proved that he could reach his goal to form a core band of previously unknown musicians capable of respectfully executing his father's music.

Tickets for the show are priced at $45 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (September 21) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000, at all Ticketmaster Outlets, and through Rogers Wireless Box Office.

If that guy grew a moustache he would look just like Frank Zappa.
