The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Chelsea Hotel
Leonard Cohen’s powerful and moving songs are the inspiration behind Chelsea Hotel, a performance that combines music, theatre, and dance, on at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova Street) from September 28 to November 3.
Conceived and directed by Tracey Power, whose previous theatre credits include a Jessie Award-nominated performance as Little Sally in Firehall’s Urinetown, The Musical, Chelsea Hotel takes place inside New York’s infamous hotel, where a writer comes to terms with lovers past and present, searching for the words to cure his damaged heart.
Rachel Aberle, Lauren Bowler, Steve Charles, Benjamin Elliott, Marlene Ginader and Adrian Glynn McMorran reprise their roles from earlier this year, with musical direction by Steve Charles, costumes by Barbara Clayden, set design by Marshall McMahen, and lighting design by Ted Roberts.
Evening performances from Tuesday to Friday start at 8 p.m., while Wednesday matinees start at 1 p.m., Saturday performances are at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Firehall Arts Centre box office online or by phone at 604-689-0862.
