      Vancouver’s Elektra Women’s Choir celebrates the holiday season with a Christmas concert alongside gypsy jazz quartet Van Django. Performances are on December 1 at 2 p.m. at Queens Avenue United Church (529 Queens Avenue, New Westminster) and at 7:30 p.m. at Ryerson United Church (2195 West 45th Avenue).

      Together, Elektra—under the direction of artistic director Morna Edmundson—and Van Django will perform playful arrangements of traditional carols, including “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, “Django Bells” and more, as well as new compositions by Mark Sirett, Roger Stratton, Stephen Smith, Guy Forbes, Jeffrey Enns, and Katherine Dienes. Also on hand will be the Costal Sound Youth Choir, for a performance that includes more than 100 voices.

      Tickets to either performance of Chez Nous: Christmas with Elektra are between $15 and $28. Tickets can be purchased online (for the 2 p.m. and for the 7:30 p.m. or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
