The Firehall Arts Centre presents the world premiere of Kid Gloves at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova Street) from November 10 to December 1. The play by Sally Scubbs presents a fictionalized account of Canada’s first two women police officers, who were hired by the Vancouver Police Department in 1912.

Kid Gloves covers social issues including feminism, prejudice, racism, corruption, and more, with a touch of humor and compassion, in order to tell the story of two women who paved the way for other female police officers.

The play stars Scott Bellis, Marlene Ginader, Patrick Keating, Dawn Petten, Colleen Wheelerand, and Deborah Williams. Kid Gloves is directed by Donna Spencer, with set and visual design by Francesca Albertazzi, costumes by Barbara Clayden, lighting by James Proudfoot, sound design and music by Jeff McMahan, and stage management by Jaimie Tait.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online or by calling the Firehall Arts Centre box office at 604-689-0926.
