The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three
St. Louis, Missouri-based blues and roots band Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three return to Vancouver on September 1 at 8 p.m. Presented by the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Pokey LaFarge will be joined by special guests, The Alialujah Choir, at the Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway).
Pokey LaFargeand the South City Three consists of Joey Glynn on bass, Adam Hoskins on guitar, and Ryan Koenig on harmonica, washboard, and snare. The band is known for combining the sounds of early jazz, string ragtime, country blues, and western swing, and was a standout hit at the 2011 Vancouver Folk Music Festival.
Openers The Alialujah Choir is a harmonic folk trio from Portland, Oregon. The choir consists of Adam Shearer and Alia Farah of Weilan and Adam Selzer of Norfolk & Western, and will be joined by M. Ward of She and Him.
