The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Seva Canada’s 30th Anniversary
On April 6, Seva Canada celebrated its 30th anniversary. Since 1982, the Vancouver-based eye-care charity has restored sight and prevented blindness in developing countries like Nepal, Tibet, India, Tanzania, Guatemala, Cambodia, Egypt, Malawi, and Madagascar.
”Seva has grown over the past three decades as a force for good. As an innovative technical adviser, funder, and friend, Seva is helping to develop some of the strongest eye care programs in the world.” says Seva founder Larry Brilliant.
To celebrate Seva Canada’s 30 years of charity work, the organization is presenting Beyond the Darkness, an exhibit of photography by Larry Louie. The optometrist and award-winning photographer uses his photography to document the work of Seva Canada. “As an optometrist,” he says, “I passionately share Seva Canada’s vision of a world where no one is needlessly blind or visually impaired and where there is equal access to eye care regardless of race, age, gender, or income.”
The exhibition will take place at the HSBC Pendulum Gallery (885 W. Georgia) until May 12.
