The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Vancouver Draw Down
Think you can’t draw? Think again. If you can put pencil to paper and make a squiggle, the folks at the Vancouver Draw Down believe that you can draw.
Now in its third year, the Vancouver Draw Down is a day-long celebration of drawing that encourages creativity and community participation. This year, the Draw Down takes place Saturday (June 9) and it includes 27 workshops across 18 different Vancouver venues.
Highlights include a collaborative, experimental drawing workshop at Trout Lake Community Centre (3360 Victoria Drive) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with artists Anthony Schrag and Brian Lye; Tracing Memory, which involves memorial pinprick drawings with Elizabeth MacKenzie at Mountain View Cemetery (5445 Fraser Street) from 1:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Drawing with the Masters at the Vancouver Art Gallery (750 Hornby Street) from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., which takes its inspiration from the VAG’s current exhibition featuring works by Henri Matisse; and creating a paper circus with illustrator and artist Julie Morstad at Collage Collage (621 Kingsway Street) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
All events are free. View the schedule of events on the Vancouver Draw Down website.
