The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Vancouver New Music’s Voices and Echoes

Vancouver New Music presents Voices and Echoes, an exploration of sound curated by Aki Onada. Voices and Echoes will be presented at the Orpheum Annex (823 Seymour Street, 2nd floor) on Saturday (September 22) at 8 p.m.

The performance will feature three Japanese artists known for their unique and interdisciplinary approaches to sound. Akio Suzuki will perform on various instruments, including an iwabue (an ancient stone flue). Meanwhile, experimental poet Gozo Yoshimasu will present his unique recitation style, which relies on rhythmic delivery and vocal modulations. Yoshimasu will perform alongside Otomo Yoshihide, an experimental guitarist and turntablist.

Tickets to Voices and Echoes is $15 ($10 for students and seniors) and available online in advance.
