On Monday, December 19, at 8:30 pm, the Vancity Theatre will be showing the 1964 music flick A Hard Day’s Night.

This black-and-white comedic musical follows an average day in the life of the Beatles, which kicks off with a train trip from Liverpool to London. Of course, their plans are complicated by a series of antics, from problems with Paul’s grandfather to persistent reporters, meddlesome bobbies, and the hordes of screaming girls that seem to follow the Fab Four around everywhere.

Made in the style of a mockumentary, A Hard Day’s Night combines director Richard Lester’s new-wave slapstick with the group's early music. Expect to hear hits like "I Wanna Be Your Man", "Can't Buy Me Love", and "Tell Me Why". The film was also where George Harrison met future wife Patricia Boyd, who makes a brief, uncredited appearance as one of the schoolgirls on the train.

Just in case you haven’t seen the movie (and we’re assuming you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere because, c’mon, it’s THE BEATLES), check out the original 1964 trailer for a sample of the treats in store.

Tickets go for $6, so it’s totally a bargain for this much young, hunky Beatle action. You can find them, and all the rest of the deets, on the Vancity Theatre website.
