Vancouver’s largest vegetarian restaurant is ready for diners. Heirloom Restaurant will officially open on Wednesday evening (October 10) at 1509 West 12th Avenue in the South Granville district.

The restaurant shared the news on its Facebook page over the Thanksgiving weekend:

Guess what?! We open Wednesday at 5pm (that’s this Wednesday the 10th)!!! After three informative, successful, exciting soft openings, we’re ready for you.

We can’t wait to feed you!

According to said Facebook page, Heirloom will offer a “contemporary dining experience coupled with a beautiful, current menu that boasts healthy, casual, interesting food from brunch through dinner, complemented by fresh and witty cocktails, a respectable organic wine list and a great selection of local small craft beers”. There will be vegan options on the menu. Heirloom will be open for dinner only until November 1.

Heirloom’s executive chef is Georgia Morley, a holistic nutrition consultant who has worked as a private chef for lululemon founder Chip Wilson and Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin. (In an October 4 article, Morley shared her fall soup-making tips with the Georgia Straight’s Michelle da Silva.)

The restaurant’s debut on South Granville follows the opening of the all-vegetarian Acorn Restaurant and Bar (3995 Main Street) in July.

Recent clinical studies suggest that casein, found in all dairy products, blocks the absorption of antioxidants and renders them useless to our body. Get healthier by going vegan! Here are two uplifting videos that will help people understand just some of the implications of this lifestyle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKr4HZ7ukSE and http://www.veganvideo.org

Hey JC...Those aren't 'recent' studies..Casein is also used to paste labels on beer bottles too....so stop with the incorrect flatulent spam!!!

Why only serving dinner until November 1st? Then what? (just an all breakfast or lunch place?)
