This Hunger Games trailer just might beat the actual movie

Before Gary Ross was tapped to adapt and direct the recent Hunger Games film, Fame and Mortal Kombat director Kevin Tancharoen had a whack at the dystopian saga.

Although Tancharoen’s pitch wasn’t picked up, he recently released the trailer to Slashfilm. Composed mainly of cutaways and clips from various films (I had fun just counting the ones I could recognize), this film pitch presents a much darker, complicated, and believable overall vision than the film that was eventually made.
