I'll Have Another scratched from Saturday's Belmont Stakes

The Triple Crown dreams of former Hastings Racecourse jockey Mario Gutierrez have been dashed. A day before Gutierrez was set to run for a spot in horse racing history, his horse I'll Have Another has been pulled from the Belmont Stakes due to injury.

I'll Have Another and Gutierrez had teamed up to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness last month and were the favourites for tomorrow's third and final leg of the Triple Crown in Elmont, New York. However, after an early training session this morning, an injury was detected and the horse was pulled from the race.

This is crushing news for Hastings which was gearing up for the biggest day in its history tomorrow hoping to see one of its former jockeys become the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years.

Sad to hear this was looking forward to a possible Triple Crown by I'll Have Another
Oh well get out and support the track regardless and bring some peppermints for the work horses.

Two thumbs up for the trainer and owner. Putting the health of the horse above the potential glory of a Triple Crown must have been gut-wrenching, but they did the right thing.

"I'll Have Another" can now look forward to many years of bringing pleasure to his lady friends. ;)
