Internet movie-streaming service Netflix launches in Canada

As previously announced, the internet movie-streaming service Netflix launched in Canada today. The service allows viewers to watch movies and TV shows streamed to TVs and computers for $7.99 per month.

iPhone, iPad, and iTouch users can also access Netflix, as can users of Samsung and Toshiba Blu-ray disc players, Nintendo's Wii, and Sony's PlayStation 3. Microsoft's Xbox 360 will be able to stream Netflix later this year and others that will eventually be able to stream Netflix include VIZIO and Insignia Blu-ray disc players, Samsung internet TVs, and Apple TV.

Canadians can try it out for one month free. It's currently only available in English but will eventually be available also in French.

Netflix has license agreements with Canadian distributors Alliance Films, Maple Pictures, eOne, and Mongrel as well as studios such as Lionsgate, MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, and Universal Pictures.
