George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four highlighted the concepts of Newspeak and Doublethink.

That gave rise to Doublespeak, a language designed to disguise or reverse the meaning of words and phrases.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper just issued a statement about his government's achievements in 2012, including this gem:

"We also continued to strengthen our relationship with First Nations, including through commitments made at the historic Crown-First Nations Gathering; announcing support for First Nation Education to improve school infrastructure and address literacy; and introducing legislation to protect drinking water in First Nation communities."

Aboriginal people across the country are holding a civil-rights rebellion.

Meanwhile, a high-profile chief is threatening to starve herself to death if she doesn't get a meeting with Steve-O.

If that's called strengthening a relationship, how do the Conservatives define a marriage that's on the rocks?
