James Green prepares to run for Vancouver mayor in 2011

Remember James Green?

He’s the independent mayoral candidate who got 4,273 votes in the 2005 Vancouver civic election.

It was the same election in which Vision Vancouver’s Jim Green lost to Non-Partisan Association candidate Sam Sullivan by a margin of only 3,747 votes.

Of course, James Green has always denied that he ran as a spoiler.

Jim Green, a former councillor, isn’t running in this year’s civic election. Neither is James Green, who’s staying on the sidelines.

But already, James Green is threatening to run again for mayor in 2011. He has even started a blog that outlines what he intends to do in the chance he might win.

“It is clear that as a city we must rethink much of what we do and come up with new ways and means to attack and solve our problems,” Green states in a document entitled “A New Direction for Vancouver” that was posted October 13.

Green wrote in an e-mail to the Straight that the document “will form basis for my run for Mayor in 2011”.
