Jane Eyre to get the erotic fan-fiction treatment

Pan Macmillan has announced that later this year it will be tackling an erotic retelling of Charlotte Brontë’s gothic classic Jane Eyre, entitled Jane Eyre Laid Bare.

According to the Bookseller, the novel would first be published in ebook format this August, with a paperback version to follow at some point in the future.

Author Eve Sinclair says “I think that readers through the ages have appreciated the smouldering sexual chemistry between Jane and Rochester and I have changed very little of Bronte's original to retell the timeless story of a young girl falling for an unattainable older man and getting out of her depth in a sensual world she cannot control."

While somewhat sceptical about one of my favourite novels being turned into erotica, I’d be interested to see if the publishers are going to develop an audiobook version of Jane Eyre Laid Bare. ‘Cause you know some of the readers are going to have their hands, erm, busy.
