Lights and the Sheepdogs vie for attention at LIVE at Squamish
There have been some pretty spectacular sights at LIVE at Squamish, from Charles Bradley's emotional outburst to the troupe of lingerie models pushing around neon pink lawnmowers, but there's currently a battle going on over whether you should watch Lights, or Canada's latest high-profile ramblin' band, the Sheepdogs.
If you're a fan of electro-minded pop 'n' b, the occasional dub step wobble, and sugary sweet vocals, then you're probably team Lights.
If you're prone to breaking out the air guitar, have a wardrobe full of bandanas, and know just exactly what "choogling" means, the bearded Saskatchewan combo are for you.
If you're not inclined to enjoy either, well, to paraphrase Sheepdogs singer-guitarist Ewan Currie, who himself paraphrased the tagline for Alien vs. Predator while introducing one bluesy number: "No matter who wins, we lose".
Gregory Adams is filing items of interest from the LIVE at Squamish festival this weekend. Tomorrow morning (August 26), look for his full review of today's show.
