Local tappers celebrate National Tap Dance Day with Tap! Buffet Style
Did you know that it was National Tap Dance Day on Wednesday (May 25)? Local tap dancers are celebrating tonight (May 27) with a performance of Tap! Buffet Style at the Grandview Legion (2205 Commercial Drive), starting at 8 p.m.
Tap! Buffet Style is the third installment of the Tap Stew collaboration created by local tap artists Jennifer Bishop and Peggy Giesbrecht in 2010. The cabaret-style revue show is a mixture of tap dancing, theatre sports, and standup comedy, and tap groups like Razzmatap!, The Hot Flash Hoofers, Kol Halev, and Vancouver Tap Dance Society are all set to perform. Tonight's celebration will feature more than 50 pairs of feet on stage, including celebrated tap artists Jim Hibbard, Danny Neilsen, and Lindsay Sterk.
Proceeds from Tap! Buffet Style will be donated to the World Youth Music Organization. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at the Rhythm Room (200-8713 Cambie Street), or by calling 778-241-6291 or emailing tapstewtickets@gmail.com.
