Manny Malhotra wins over fans at the Vancouver Pride parade

Vancouver Canucks centre Manny Malhotra is not the first NHL player to march in the Vancouver Pride parade.

In 2010, former Montreal Canadiens enforcer Georges Laraque joined the Green party's contingent in his role as deputy leader.

But the Canucks player was still a hit with the fans, spending lots of time posing for photos this afternoon.

When Malhotra was standing in front of me on Denman Street, people kept jumping in front of him so they could be caught on camera with him.

Malhotra wasn't the only Canuck in the parade. New defenceman and White Rock native Jason Garrison was also there, joining Toronto Maple Leafs president Brian Burke's son Patrick, whose brother Brendan was an openly gay hockey player until his untimely death in 2010.

At this year's parade, Malhotra and Garrison appeared to be having a great time. Maybe next year, Malhotra can invite his brother-in-law, basketball star Steve Nash, to join in the fun.
