      Gung hei, 徐穎堃!

Congratulations are in order for the winner of the Miss Chinese Vancouver 2011 pageant.

Erica Chui (徐穎堃), a Hong Kong–born 24-year-old contestant, was one of ten women competing in the pageant, which was presented by Fairchild Television and concluded at the Vancouver Convention Centre on December 7.

The first runnerup was Vicky Chan (陳偉琪), a 20-year-old student also born in Hong Kong, and the second runnerup was Allyssa Sy (施穎瑜), a Prince Rupert–born registered nurse.

Contestants competed in runway, swimwear, and evening gown competitions. Chui won best posture, best elegance, and best complexion awards.

The event was hosted by Brian Chan, Yvette Tsui, and Jason Chan with a performance by Hong Kong singer Ruco Chan.

Chui will go on to represent Vancouver at the 23rd Miss Chinese International in Hong Kong on January 15, 2012. She'll compete against delegates from countries as varied as Peru, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

And apparently, Canada has what it takes to beat the competition. Canada leads the world with nine wins out of 22 competitions.

And guess which city boasts the most wins? Vancouver, with five winners. Toronto came second with three. Both Canadian cities even managed to best Hong Kong, which tied with Sydney, Australia, and Singapore, with two wins. Rounding out the Canadian winners, a Montreal delegate won the title in 1993.

      Best of luck, 徐穎堃!
