Neil Gaiman’s American Gods is set to take over HBO

According to film and TV website Screen Rant, HBO is planning out six seasons of a TV version of Neil Gaiman’s novel American Gods, the first of which is set to air as early as next year.

The series would follow the adventures of Shadow, a recently released convict who must navigate a modern landscape populated with Old World gods like Odin, Anansi, Kali, and Anubis, who compete with the brash, modern New World gods for the spiritual domination of the States. Cutthroat and vicious, these are gods who know the stakes and play for keeps.

American Gods will be the fourth of Gaiman’s novels to be seen on the screen, the others being Coraline, Stardust, and Neverwhere.

Now, if they would only make a big-screen version of Good Omens, I could die happy.

I don't think HBO produced Neverwhere, it was a BBC production.

Don't get too excited. The Screen Rant link in this post is over a year old. Looks like this is dead in the water.

The BBC Neverwhere series isn't an adaptation of the book. The book is an adaptation of the series.
