New Nick Cave track sounds like Phil Collins

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have just released the first video from their upcoming album, Push the Sky Away.

“We Know Who UR” finds Cave and sideman Warren Ellis in simmering mode after their explosive side trip into the two Grinderman albums.

Or it sounds like a trip hop remake of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight”, depending on your perspective. Either way, remember—Nick Cave is always right!

The video was made by Gaspar Noé, the cinematic enfant terrible whose film Irreversible ruined anal rape scenes for, like, forever.

“We Know Who UR” seems a bit lazy after his last feature, Enter the Void, which was a visually sumptuous three hour exploration of the Tibetan Book of the Dead as made by a permanently adolescent porn addict who just watched The Spirit Molecule.

But it is kind of spooky, I guess.

Here’s what Cave had to say about Push the Sky Away, which is released on February 19:

"If I were to use that threadbare metaphor of albums being like children, then Push the Sky Away is the ghost-baby in the incubator and Warren's loops are its tiny, trembling heart-beat."

Somehow this song and the new Bowie seem like kin...

More like Phil Collins climbed in the teleporter right after Leonard Cohen left, mistakenly thinking it was a Porta-Potty.
