NHL heads to Las Vegas for season-end awards show

I can see it now—Gary Bettman rubbing shoulders with Liza Minelli and Sinbad. Carrot Top may be there, too. (There's more than a few who likely wouldn't mind seeing the Commish spend a little time with Siegfried & Roy's tiger Montecore, while he's at it).

The National Hockey League is taking its June 18 season-ending awards show to Sin City because, as everyone knows, Las Vegas is crying out for a hockey convention in the middle of June. The league has franchises all over the U.S. dying on the vine and in need of a some kind of boost. Why not take the show to Phoenix, Nashville, Atlanta, or some other city and use the event as an opportunity to generate some publicity instead of getting buried on the Strip?
