Olympic loonie unveiled for, you guessed it, the 2012 Summer Games

The Royal Canadian Mint has just issued the "2012 Lucky Loonie" to commemorate the upcoming Olympic Games.

There's no word yet on whether or not these coins will work in TransLink fareboxes or in Vancouver parking meters.

But it's further proof that there's no way to escape being reminded of the London Olympics, which begin on July 27.

Well, considering how there are only five million of these coins being minted, they're guaranteed to be a collectors' item worth far more than a buck. And you're worried whether or not they'll "work" if you drop one into a a fare box or parking meter...?
