Al Jazeera has released photographs from the unprecedented public uprising in Egypt against the Hosni Mubarak government.

Today (January 28), Mubarak dismissed his government and promised to bring in a new regime tomorrow.

"We will not backtrack on reforms," Mubarak said, according to Al Jazeera. "We will continue with new steps which will ensure the independence of the judiciary and its rulings, and more freedom for citizens."

Meanwhile, U.S. president Barack Obama has said that the Egyptian president should match his words with action.

Tens of thousands of Egyptians have gone into the streets, refusing to obey a government-ordered curfew.

The government has ordered Internet-service providers to cut off access.
