Pirate Joe’s trades Broadway for West 4th Avenue in Vancouver

Shiver me timbers! Vancouver's unofficial Trader Joe's store has washed up at a new location in Kitsilano.

Pirate Joe's started up about a year ago as Transilvania Trading at 3474 West Broadway, the former location of Transilvania Peasant Bread. Recently, it set sail for 2348 West 4th Avenue, which previously housed Homecraft Importers.

If you're not familiar with Trader Joe's, it's a popular U.S. grocery chain known for its low prices and in-house brand of products. Trader Joe's also carries plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Its nearest store is in Bellingham, Washington, at 2410 James Stret.

In the new West 4th store, Pirate Joe's—which is not part of the Trader Joe's chain—is selling a variety of packaged, canned, and frozen Trader Joe's goods. It's open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday. If you're not sure what to get, I recommend the Candy Cane Joe-Joe's (think Oreos with crushed candy canes in the cream).
