Pirates commandeer Aquabus to promote Vancouver Opera show

A group of swashbuckling pirates shouted plenty of “arrrs!” as they seized control of an Aquabus in False Creek today (November 22).

While the sight of the skull-and-crossbones flag may have startled some landlubbers, there was actually no danger of anyone being forced to walk the plank.

In fact, it was all part of a publicity stunt for the Vancouver Opera’s production of the Pirates of Penzance, which opens December 1.

Around a dozen chorus singers and staff members involved with the show dressed up and took to the waters to mug for promotional photos and video.
