Racist employment ad declares no Indians or Asians wanted

Ragan's PR Daily has a story today about a public-relations problem that you don't expect to see in the 21st century.

An Australian grocery chain called Coles placed an ad for experienced cleaners, saying it "requires no indians or asians please. MUST SPEAK ENGLISH."

The company blamed a subcontractor.

whatever charlie
Charlie, whatever, if the ad said only Asians and East Indians may apply, it would have been fine. Australia isn't politically correct fucked up Canada and speaking your mind is encouraged.

Which is why the company is under fire for publishing an ad that's unlawful under Tasmanian law, eh "whatever"?

I read the article last night on the BBC News web site, I would recommend Straight readers read that for a more detailed report than what Mr. Smith wrote here, It's more than the 3 sentences that you found here FYI.

In p.c. Canada it is OK to discriminate openly against whites, especially middle aged ones. Somehow it is considered progress to give someone a promotion or a job because of the color of their skin, not on their achievements or abilities.

But then again, people like Monty Robinson certainly are not complaining about it, are they?

wondering
I agree with the firs commentor..
Why is it ok to post in a classified ad in Vancouver MUST speak cantonese?(when I enquired, i was told because their clients only want to speak in their own language) especially since English and French are our only required languages in Canada. Not only that, I wonder why there are no fluent english speaking employees at the bank I deal with. something is wrong. but we arent allow to say it. ..double standard.
