Sex-positive art needed by Vancouver Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

Are you an artist? Into sex? (Well, who isn't, besides asexuals and repressed homophobes?) If so, then here's a contest perfect for you.

This is just a last-minute reminder that those ever-entertaining Vancouver Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are in need of visual art for their forthcoming condom campaign. And the deadline is next week on August 15. (So get your act in gear if you still want to compete.)

The theme is sex positivity (woo!), and they're particularly interested in artistic styles inspired by religious imagery.

All finalists will have their art and information featured on the Sisters' condom packages, which will both entertain and educate about safe-sex techniques.

The grand prize winner will receive $200, while two runners-up will win prize packages valued at $125 each.

The winners will be announced at the Queer Arts Festival closing party, to be held on August 18 at the Roundhouse Community Centre, where all submissions will be on display. The Abbey of the Long Canoe is the Vancouver chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The mirthful Sisters', in case you didn't already know, are an order of queer nuns who originated in San Francisco, and have orders and missions all around the world.

While they're full of joie de vivre and je ne sais quoi, they're actually dastardly do-gooders in disguise. Vancouver's chapter is devoted to addressing HIV/AIDS and homelessness issues in the queer community.
