Slash slams TV's Glee, vows it will stay Guns N' Roses-free

    1 of 1 2 of 1

The last time Ear of Newt mentioned former Guns N' Roses/current Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash, we reported on how he was planning to produce horror movies for the new company Slasher Films.

Now the top-hatted rocker--who opens for Ozzy Osbourne in Seattle on February 5--is making news by slamming the hit TV series Glee in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Slash told EW.com that he would not want to see the top-rated FOX-TV show do a Guns N' Roses-themed episode. In fact, he hopes the cast--which has covered, via tribute episodes, the music of Journey, Madonna, and Britney Spears--never wraps its lips around a single GN'R classic.

"We got asked about that once already but it got turned down," Slash said. "In the current climate of what's going on in entertainment these days, I try to be more optimistic than negative because it's really easy to get negative about it, but I draw the line at Glee.

"Glee is worse than Grease," he added, "and Grease is bad enough.... Actually, I look at Grease now and think: between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a brilliant work of art."

No word yet on whether the cast of Glee has agreed to perform on the soundtrack of Slasher Films' upcoming Eli Roth-directed project, Suffering of the Gleeks.

His loss. If he doesn't want to make a gazillion dollars, that's his choice.
Given the state of GNR these days, you'd figure he could use the money.

      Not everyone's a sell-out Gleek.

I tried watching that video; I lasted about 7 seconds. Like "Meatspin", I think we should make a game out of it, your score is how long you can bear to watch.

I liked Rolling Stone's review of Glee: it's not just gay, it's gay to a degree which denies all that is non-gay. It's a level of gay which insists that heterosexuality is a social construct.

Does no one else see the irony of a has-been rocker, who's opening for a washed-up, geriatric rocker, slamming a show that is far more popular than himself?

Yes, I do hope they will take your advice, Slash, and keep Glee "Guns 'n' Roses" free.

Most people that actually make music are probably not fans of musicals. Musical film, theatre or t.v. makes a mockery of real music.

Music is invisible; it does not need visual imagery (or even a voice). In fact, imagery and words actually take away from music itself.

@ Ziggles - I don't care how many people like Glee, unless you're only talking about only 12 year old girls then there is no way Glee is ever going to be more popular than Slash! I can only assume that your description of a 'has-been rocker' came about after ignoring the success that he's had with Velvet Revolver and as a solo artist? If anything, being able to reject something as profitable as selling out to Glee proves he is anything but a 'has-been'!

Besides, perhaps it's wrong to even compare them anyway because Slash is a musician and not a karaoke act.
