Smartphones of the future may go viral

This week, the tech world is in a tizzy over Microsoft's unveiling of its Surface tablet. So what if it has a cover that doubles as a keyboard and trackpad? Big whoop.

Here's a technological advancement to crow about. Researchers in California are paving the way for viruses (biological, not computer) to replace batteries. As the Associated Press reports, the scientists' work could lead to the installation of genetically engineered viruses in smartphones everywhere.
