SoL Sun Belt Cookery transports Coal Harbour diners to the Mediterranean

Vancouver restaurateurs Gord Martin and Abdel Elatouabi have opened their first restaurant together. SoL Sun Belt Cookery (550 Denman Street) serves Mediterranean cuisine and sits on a waterfront location in Coal Harbour.

Dishes, which range in price from $9 to $22, reflect flavours from Spain, France, Turkey, and Morocco, and take inspiration from both Martin and Elatouabi’s culinary backgrounds. Tapas dishes are similar in size to those offered at Martin’s Bin 941 restaurant, and Turkish fry bread served at SoL is reminiscent of Navajo fry bread at Bin 941. Meanwhile, several entrées, including the ras el hanout pork tenderloin rubbed with North African spices, suggest flavours found at Elatouabi’s previous eatery Le Marrakech.

SoL Sun Belt Cookery is open daily for lunch and dinner. Diners can enjoy a seat on the sundrenched patio or indoors, where live music or DJ’d music will be featured on weekends.
