Stephen Harper duets with 10-year-old YouTube sensation Maria Aragon

"Who the heck is Maria Aragon?"

Apparently I've been living under a rock for, as soon as I mentioned the name, my coworkers were quick to inform me of the Winnipegger's rise on YouTube after a video of Aragon performing Lady Gaga's Madonna ripoff track "Born This Way" went viral. (I was the 26,363,032nd person to view Aragon's video on YouTube. I'm so late to the party.) Then she was invited to perform on Ellen. She's even got her own Wikipedia entry. And she's only 10 years old?

Suck on that, Justin Bieber. (Not literally, of course. That's wrong on every level.)

The young star's latest appearance? Performing a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" with the bespectacled Stephen Harper while he tours the country.

Huh.

Aragon's got talent—lots of talent—and good for her. But slumming it with our soon-to-be-former prime minister? Kiddo, you can do waaaaaaay better than that.

And Harper? You can't tell me you don't have the money to invest in vocal lessons.

Exploiting a girl whose unassuming cover of Gaga has already been leveraged by the latter for her own feel-good publicity.

Lady Gaga doesn't miss a marketing trick, and apparently neither does Dear Leader of the Glorious Republic of the 'Government of Harper'.

he governs about the same way he sings, not to well at either. The same goes for his story telling about the collition, he can't get it right.

"I've got my own lyrics for this song that might cause a bit of controversy". Um, that must have been when on the chorus he should have been singing, "you" and he says, "I"... Of course. He has the gall to consider rewriting Lennon lyrics and then makes a peace anthem about himself. Imagine there's no Harper and our country remembered itself as a progressive place and peaceful people.

This so called leader is desperate to the nth. degree. What a twit! He's so focused on selling us (Canada) out he will exploite anyone, even children. A sign for the CONS, exploit, win, then sell out!

I think Harper's looking for someone of his own intellectual level but sadly this girl is about 6 years ahead of him...

Maybe it's just me, but this guy is very paranoid about other parties that can learn to work together, or as Harper calls it, 'a Coalition'. Personally I see very little WRONG with a coalition, it shows just how people CAN work together toward a common goal as opposed to Harper's apparent agenda... the Sale of Canada.

'Imagine no religion'- imagine the likes of Harper -with the fundementalist crowd backing him- singing that with a straight face. It is hard to do.

I'm sure she is well handled and he is not exploiting her. This is actually the most personal side of Harper I have ever seen. The only other time I've seen him smile or laugh was on Rick Mercer. It is refreshing and something stuffy Iggy would not have the talent for.
