Straight Series: The Head & the Heart in concert at the Commodore Ballroom

The Straight Series' ongoing goal to put emerging artists on Vancouver's radar continues with Seattle's own the Head & the Heart.

The indie folk-pop group has come a long way from its days of selling burned copies of its first album at local shows. The discs, snuggled in handmade denim sleeves, circulated around Seattle at a rapid pace and landed in the hands of local radio station KEXP and eventually Sup Pop records, who signed them later that fall.

Since the June 2010 release of its debut album, the Head & the Heart has toured extensively--opening for Vampire Weekend, the Walkmen, Dr. Dog, Dave Matthews, the Low Anthem, the Decemberists, Iron & Wine, and Death Cab For Cutie.

The Head & the Heart plays the Commodore Ballroom on Thurs., Oct 20, at 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are priced at $20 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (July 15) at 10 a.m., but Straight readers have access to a limited number of $15 tickets (plus service charges and fees) during our exclusive presale from Wednesday (July 13) 10 a.m.– Thuesday, (July 14) 10 p.m. by going to Live Nation and submitting our exclusive presale password GSTHTH.

And don't forget to become a fan of the Georgia Straight on Facebook and sign up for THE LIST newsletter for more concert announcements, contests, and exclusive “beat the lines” presale passwords.
