Tar Sands Blockade video raises questions about what we may see in B.C.

U.S. activists are gearing up for a civil-disobedience campaign in response to TransCanada Corp.'s plan to possibly begin building the Keystone XL Pipeline within weeks.

The peaceful direct-action group Tar Sands Blockade recently released a video, which shows how American environmentalists are willing to to put their bodies on the line to stop Alberta oil from reaching U.S. refineries.

U.S. activists speak about the need to save the planet.

If this is what's happening south of the border, one can only imagine the type of resistance that Enbridge and Kinder Morgan will encounter if they gain approval for pipeline proposals delivering tar-sands oil to Kitimat and Vancouver.

What's to be gained by laying down and being quickly scooped off the ground by the police? I'm thinking something a lot more interventionist is called for. Oh, I think that's CSIS knocking at my door. Funny, I haven't even hit 'send' yet!

@ out at night: The battle over Northern Gateway will be fought in the media. Daily images of average people passively obstructing construction will produce daily media coverage. It's that simple.

More violent protest will quickly turn the public against the Northern Gateway opponents and should be avoided at all costs.
