Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes set to split amid Eurozone debt woes
A week after Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis announced their breakup, another one of Hollywood's power couples is calling it quits.
Tom Cruise, 49, and Katie Holmes, 33, are divorcing, according to several news reports.
People magazine reports that Holmes' attorney Jonathan Wolfe stated "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
No official reason for the divorce has been announced.
The couple have one daughter, six-year-old Suri. Cruise, who has starred in blockbusters such as Top Gun and Mission: Impossible (even filming one of the sequels in Vancouver), has two adopted children from his relationship with Nicole Kidman.
This was Holmes' first marriage while it was Cruise's third marriage. Cruise, one of the world's most famous Scientologists, had previously been married to Mimi Rogers and Kidman, and was romantically linked to Penelope Cruz.
Cruise, currently starring in Rock of Ages, infamously declared his love for Holmes (who rose to fame on Dawson's Creek) by jumping down on a couch on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005.
The couple ranked number eight on Zimbio's Hollywood's hottest celebrity couples list for 2012.
Throughout his career, Cruise has repeatedly refuted rumours that he is gay.

I think I should stop picking up the Straight, if I want read about this shit I can pick up a copy of US Magazine or People Magazine or watch Entertainment Tonight. You want to find real alternative & worthwhile culture (& Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes sure ain't), you got Vancouver CO-OP Radio or other non profit media outlets.

Maybe Katie is smarter than we all thought. C'mon - these people are all actors and actresses - even in this game called life. My bet is she walks away with more money per month than most of us see per year. Not so bad for 5 years!
