Tourism Richmond searches for year-long food blogger

Tourism Richmond announced Wednesday (February 29) that they are looking to hire one food blogger to eat at and blog about restaurants in Richmond for a full year. For many bloggers, the prize seems too good to be true: an annual contract salary of $50,000, apartment and living costs for one year, a daily stipend for restaurant meals, and a year-long gym membership to the Richmond Olympic Oval.

      But it’s no easy task.

The City of Richmond includes more than 800 restaurants—over 400 of them being Asian eateries. The selected food blogger will be required to dine at a minimum of one Richmond restaurant each day, taking photos, shooting videos, and blogging about the experience.

“Our ideal Richmond Foodie Blogger will be a great communicator, social media savvy, and most importantly, be open-minded and willing to try new things," Tourism Richmond CEO Tracy Lakeman stated in a news release. “Our culinary offerings are like none other and we believe the best way to demonstrate that is through the eyes and stomach of an online foodie presence.”

Applicants should have food blogging experience, but the job is open to anyone around the world who can work in Canada for one year. Interested bloggers will be able to apply from March 1 to 31 on Tourism Richmond’s Facebook page.
