TVT Records calls it a day

TVT Records, home to a range of artists including Lil Jon, the Ying Yang Twins, Ambulance Ltd, and the Polyphonic Spree, has fired most of its employees and, according to Billboard, is expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week.

New Yorker Steve Gottlieb founded the label in 1985, and had early success with industrial and rock acts such as Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Psychic TV, and VNV Nation. In more recent years, TVT has become known as a leading hip-hop label, but has been embroiled in various legal battles.
