U2 and Coldplay announce Vancouver concert dates

Like melodramatic pop-rock ballads? Of course you do. Fortunately, two of the world’s most popular bands announced tours today, both with stops in Vancouver.

U2 will be performing songs from their 12th album, No Line On The Horizon, on October 28 at B.C. Place. According to the LiveNation press release, Bono and the boys will be backed by various acts, including Glasvegas, Elbow, Snow Patrol, and the Black Eyed Peas throughout their 360 º Tour, which promises to provide an “unobstructed view for the audience” by means of architectural magic. Each venue will have at least 10,000 tickets up for grabs for around $30. Check back with the Straight for ticket sale information.

Coldplay will be performing at GM Place on June 20 for the Vancouver leg of their Viva La Vida Tour. The Grammy Award–winning quartet last played B.C. in July as headliners of the Pemberton Festival. Tickets go on sale Saturday [March 14] at 10 a.m, but Straight readers can nab them a day early with our exclusive pre sale by signing up for the “The List” eNewsletter before Thursday.
