Vancouver band the Fugitives gets mixed up with Sade

Local spoken-word/indie-roots act the Fugitives might have won a few new fans—for Sade. That's because, thanks to a mix-up at the CD plant, some fans who have purchased the group's new album, Eccentrically We Love have ended up with the smooth R&B singer's latest disc, the sort-of similarly titled Soldier of Love, instead.

How the Sade CDs ended up in the Fugitives' packaging is anyone's guess. The band estimates that the error affects 25 percent of its order of 2,000 CDs. Fugitive Barbara Adler joked, "The bright side is that our CD is probably in some of Sade's albums. We might finally have international distribution."

Adler also said the situation has inspired her group to cover an as-yet-unannounced Sade song. On behalf of struggling indie musicians everywhere, I vote for "When Am I Going to Make a Living". Or, for the sake of those fans who failed to find an actual Fugitives disc in a Fugitives package, "Keep Looking".
